Cindy is a natural and talented healer. Her love of people shows up in her everyday life and in her massage practice. Her favorite kind of body work to share with others is shiatsu. Shiatsu originated in Japan. The literal translation is “finger pressure”. Shiatsu is a holistic approach to healing. It works on the premise that the mind, body and spirit are interconnected and always trying to maintain and increase a balance of energy. When a person has a physical, emotional or spiritual injury, shiatsu will assist in balancing “chi” or energy in the body. The practitioner uses fingers, palms, forearms, knees or feet to apply pressure along meridians (energy conductors) that run throughout the body. The pressure points are the same as used in acupuncture. The practitioner also uses stretching, gentle range of motion, rocking and holding throughout the session.
